If 40♦ represents a three-digit positive integer with a ones digit of ♦ and 1♦ is a two-digit positive integer with a ones digit of ♦,what value of ♦ makes the equation
To what alexandra adn julia said you have to find a number ( 3 digits) that is disivisble by 9 and 40. 40 time blank equals a three diigit number. So blank has to be 3 and higher

the number must be somewhere in the center because anything between 401-409 divided by 27 is between 14 and 16 with decimals.
If it has to be divided by 27, then what if you multiplied some numbers by 27?
If 40(triangle) is divisible by 27, then it will also be divisible by 9.
RIGHT, Alexandra!
So now you can look for multiplies of 9 (or 27) that are in the four hundreds.
So i'm gussing that the two triangles have to be the same numbers right? always making things more difficult
i got the answer!!! thanx 4 the help everbody. its really easy just to guess and check because its not that far into the #s

well there are only 9 options that the # could be. it has to be a 1 digit #! and we know that it cant be below 3, so it works to guess and check...
Y'all did a GREAT jog of helping each other try to solve the problem.
So the triangle could stand for 5.
Here is how we could justify...
405 divided by 27 = 15
